Mariana Bezamat

Dr. Mariana Bezamat, a dentist by training, is a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Dental Medicine's Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences.

Bezamat earned her PhD in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Recently, she received a Postdoctoral Fellowship Award from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Her studies focus on how oral health outcomes and overall health comorbidities of individuals who have survived cancer are affected by genetic variation.

Bezamat earned her DDS at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and her PhD at the University of Pittsburgh.

Bezamat joined the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2017 as a graduate student and, after graduating in 2021, continues working as a TL1 postdoctoral fellow with appointments in both the School of Medicine and the School of Dental Medicine. She serves as a postdoctoral scholar in the Vieira laboratory, working to define oral disease patterns that are associated with specific genomic and phenomic profiles.
