Dr. Andrea Ibarra is an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine of the School of Medicine.
Her research has focused on perioperative and perinatal outcomes among those with cardiovascular disease. Her current research investigates how hypertensive disorders of pregnancy affect cognition as well as the role of disparities in these outcomes. Ibarra’s clinical and academic interests include diversity, equity, and inclusion in health care.
Ibarra earned her Doctor of Medicine from University of Illinois College of Medicine, performed her Anesthesiology Residency at UPMC, served a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research at the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education.
