The Extended Diversity Experience, established in the 2016-2017 academic year, was created to offer University of Pittsburgh faculty the opportunity to increase awareness about diversity and develop the skills needed to teach in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Faculty members who are interested in incorporating what they have learned about diversity and inclusivity into a course they will be teaching in the coming year may apply to participate in the Extended Diversity Institute workshop series. This extended professional growth experience connects a cohort of faculty with scholars who are studying diversity, librarians to help locate resources, and with pedagogy experts who work collaboratively to assist faculty in modifying their courses.
Faculty who have completed the Extended Diversity Experience are recognized at the annual diversity luncheon.
