Faculty Development Certificate Program

The Office of the Provost is offering a limited number of opportunities for faculty to participate in a faculty development certificate program along with a one-year (February 2022–February 2023) all-inclusive online Academic Impressions membership.

To obtain the certificate of completion for a given track, faculty will be required to participate in a prescribed curriculum of approximately 15 hours of programming. With their memberships, participants will also have unlimited access to Academic Impressions articles and reports, on-demand learning, and live webcasts. All-inclusive online members will also receive access to a limited number of free or discounted seats to virtual conferences and virtual trainings.

Curricula and certificates will be offered in the following tracks:

  • Faculty Success: New or Early Career Faculty—This track will promote success in various aspects of a new or early career faculty member’s role and responsibilities, including research productivity and publication, how to navigate the tenure and promotion process, and skills such as time management, presentation, and communication.
     
  • Faculty Success: Mid-career and Senior Faculty—This track will address topics relevant to faculty who have achieved tenure or promotion and seek to renew, reinvigorate, or revise their trajectories.
     
  • Leadership Development—This track will cover a range of topics relevant to—and therefore is open to—both current faculty leaders and faculty who are interested in pursuing or learning more about academic leadership.
     
  • Inclusive Leadership and/or Leading through Change—This track is open to faculty who are in administrative roles, including vice presidents, vice or associate deans, and department or division chairs.

Faculty who would like to apply for participation in a certificate track, along with a one-year Academic Impressions all-inclusive online membership, should submit a three- to five-sentence Statement of Interest to the Faculty Affairs, Diversity, and Development (FADD) office at faculty@pitt.edu on or before Feb. 15. The FADD team will respond to your expression of interest shortly after that date.
